Skills

Professional History

SoliTaire! Network - Independant Consultant and Developer

2001-Present

Developed S o l i T a i r e ! -- a collection of 45 Java applets. S o l i T a i r e ! was built to be an extensible development system so that new variants of Solitaire can be created and added in just hours. You can see S o l i T a i r e ! at www.SolitaireNetwork.com.

iWin -- Game Designer, Engineer, Co-Producer

2001-Present

My most recent work can be seen at iWin.com. Designed and Developed products: Jewel Quest, Jewel Quest II, Jewel Quest Solitaire, Jewel Quest Solitaire II, Family Feud, Groovin', MahJong, Backgammon, Klondike Solitaire, and Pyramid Solitaire.

Bigprizes -- Game Designer, Engineer, Co-Producer

1999-2001

BigPrizes.com is a leading internet sweepstakes games site.

Using Java 1.1, Designed, Developed, and Co-Produced various single-player and multi-player game Applets and Servlets, including Pharaoh's Treasure and Mystery Prize Solitaire.

Developed a sophisticated 2-D animation system that greatly simplified Applet development and allowed for consistently stable products. Also developed a Resource System that provided graphical and audio media management including the ability to show the download progress of Applet resources (something that took considerable effort to do in Java 1.1.) As a result of these two support packages, the games were full-featured and yet took far less time to develop and test.

Working in a team, Designed and Developed game servers and lobby systems.

Jellyvision -- Senior Engineer

1998

Jellyvision is best known as the creative designers behind the You Don't Know Jack series.

Designed and developed technology for automatically updating on-line client software with a minimal download by providing and installing only a delta of the changes. This resulted in very fast updates over the internet since only a very small percentage of a program changes with each successive version.

WorldPlay (AOL) Games -- Game Designer, Senior Engineer

1993-1997

Previously known as ImagiNation! Network, WorldPlay Games was the primary content provider of America On-Line's Games Channel.

Designed, engineered, and supported the game development class system known as the "Game Room" that provided the foundation for over a dozen other engineers. The Game Room gathered into DLL's the common functionality of networked Windows games so that the application engineers using it reduced their development effort by over 50% on each title. Also refined the WorldPlay SDK, trained and lead other engineers, and trained and supplied technical support to third-party developers.

Designed and developed the following titles in whole or part demonstrating my proficiency in the field of multi-player games: WorldPlay's Hearts, Backgammon, Spades, Cribbage, Gin, Pinochle, and Bridge. Also ImagiNation! Backgammon, Euchre, Yacht, Hearts, and others.

In Nov 1996, received an Outstanding Achievement Award presented to only 8 out of 120 employees in the company in recognition of my key contributions to the company's products.

Sierra On-Line -- Game Designer, Senior Engineer, Project Manager

1988-1993

Sierra On-line is one of the leading publishers of premium entertainment software since 1980.

Fulfilled several different roles while developing the various products listed below. Successful in every role whether it be Designer, Lead Engineer, Project Manager, or Producer. This partial list of products for Sierra demonstrates my versatility, perseverance, stability, and dedication:

The Early Days -- Game Author, Designer, Engineer

1980-1988

Authored several game titles published by Sierra On-Line and Tigervision for the Apple II, Atari 800, and Atari 2600 computer systems including "Threshold", and "Sammy Lightfoot" using assembly language. These titles were at the forefront of game development in the early 1980's. At the time, Softalk Magazine called Threshold "the epitome of arcade gaming yet devised." Featured in the books Hackers by Steven Levy and Halcyon Days by James Hague in recognition of my pioneering contributions during the early days of the computer games industry.

Conclusion

My successful career demonstrates my ability to create engaging hit games and also solve difficult engineering tasks with the highest degree of quality, in nearly every facet of software development.
